From the Stacks

If you are looking for a book that is spooky and strange, look no further than Coraline by Neil Gaiman.

Coraline (that’s Coraline not Caroline!) and her parents move into a flat in an old home. Coraline has some strange new neighbors: two retired stage performers Miss Spink and Miss Forcible, and the crazy old man upstairs who says he is training a mouse circus.

Coraline finds the door that connects her flat and the unoccupied flat next to hers opens into a brick wall. However, when home alone Coraline unlocks the door and discovers that the brick wall is gone. On the other side is an identical flat to her own, with another mother and another father like her own, but with black button for eyes.

Join Coraline and get lost in this weird and wonderful world. You can also check out Coraline as a graphic novel, or a movie based on the book.

If Coraline is just your style, give these books a try as well!
