Race 200

How many books can you read!?

Discover the joy of reading and join RACE 200!  This exciting challenge is open to all book lovers aged 18 and above residing in Oakland County. Be a part of the 2025 race and see how many points you can earn by December 31st. Join our Race 200 reading challenge on Beanstack to earn rewards along the way!

What is Race 200, you ask?

Residents of Oakland County ages 18 and older are eligible to participate in this yearlong reading challenge. Participants must be able to pick their prizes up from the library. Audiobooks, ebooks, and graphic novels all count towards the reading badges.

The goal is to reach 200 points by the end of the year. Reading books, writing reviews, and reading books from seasonal book lists all earn you points. For example, if you read The Book of Secrets by Melissa McShane, you get one point for reading a book. you can write a review (doesn’t have to be long) for another point. Finally, since this book is on the Winter Reading List, you can get another point for reading something from that list. That’s three points for just one book! See below for more details.

Earning Points

There are three ways to earn points:

  • Read a Book
  • Write a Book Review
  • Read a Book from the Seasonal Booklists

Register at Beanstack to get started, or stop by the Library to register in person.
