This summer, our summer reading program is going virtual!! All ages can register for their summer reading program at

Activity/Prize Pickup

At this time, the Library will not be able to hand out halfway or final prizes for our summer reading programs. When the Library is able to be opened for curbside pickup or for patron visits, this website will be updated to reflect how you can pick up your summer reading prizes or activities.

Additional Information for…

The Bouncing Babies program is for ages 0-2. Participants will earn a mini storytime toy kit after completing 10 badges. They will complete the program after earning 20 badges and receive a board book and rubber duck! For instructions on using Beanstack flor the Bouncing Babies program, view the video below. 

 

The Pathfinders program is for ages 2-6. Participants will earn a toy prize pack after logging 25 books and mini kinetic sand and a free book for logging 50 books. Logging books and completing activity badges will also earn raffle tickets that can be used for raffle prizes! For instructions on using Beanstack for the Pathfinder program, view the video below. 

 

The Trailblazer program is for participants who are entering grades 2-5. Participants will earn points in the program by reading books and completing activities. When they have 25 points they will be able to receive a halfway prize and will be eligible for a final prize when they have earned 50 points. Logging books and completing activities will also earn raffle tickets! For instructions on using Beanstack for the Trailblazer program, view the video below. 

 

The Tween program is for participants who are entering grades 6-8. Tweens will submit book reviews for up to 20 books to earn raffle tickets for prizes. Participants can also earn raffle tickets by completing activity badges. For instructions on using Beanstack for the Tween program, view the video below. 

 

The Teen program is for participants who are entering grades 9-12. Teens will submit book reviews for up to 20 books to earn raffle tickets for prizes. Participants can also earn raffle tickets by completing activity badges. For instructions on using Beanstack for the Teen program, view the video below. 

 

The Adult Summer Reading Program is for ages 19 and up. Participants will complete badges for logging books and participating in activities; these badges will earn raffle entries toward the grand prize at the end of the summer. The program will be run online using Beanstack. If you’d like more information on how to use Beanstack, please see the video below.

 

FAQ

I don’t have a library card! How can I get one? 

You can sign up for a Library card virtually by using our online form! If you are an Auburn Hills resident and are over 18 years old, you can receive a virtual card and take advantage of our online resources. However, you do not need a library card to participate in summer reading! Click here for the online form.

What if I don’t have a reliable internet source/am unable to participate in an online summer reading program? 

Our youth staff has also made print logs for the Bouncing Babies, Pathfinders, and Trailblazers program. To request a print log, please email youth@ahplibrary.org.  

How can I check out books this summer? 

Using your library card, you can use our digital resources to check out ebooks, audiobooks, and graphic novels on Hoopla and Libby.

Do ebooks count for my child’s summer reading program? 

Yes! Ebooks, audiobooks, and graphic novels all count for our summer reading program.
